Ernest Nason Harmon records, 1912-1992.

The collection consists primarily of the files created and accrued by Ernest Harmon during his tenure as president of Norwich University, 1950-1965. Memoirs, certificates, commissions, and biographical articles are the only records in the collection that substantively document General Harmon's military career. Both Harmon's activities as university president and his interactions with the university community, including faculty/staff, alumni, various departments, and the board of trustees, are documented in the collection. Ernest Harmon was a graduate of Bradford (VT) Academy. He attended Norwich University for one year before being appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, from which he graduated in 1917. His military career spanned two world wars. As a young lieutenant, he commanded F Troop, 2nd Cavalry, A.E.F., in World War I.
